Nevadans?

***? I just read that article in the RGJ and the comments. (I like it btw) The first post??? What planet does that guy live on and why the hell did he move here? He needs to get back to the big city. If fresh produce scares him he doesn't have to buy it.

Did you read the comments? That first one was a doozy!

I know. I guess he is deluded that pesticide-filled food from big business is better for us.

sorry, forgot to quote aubrey too. oops that wasn't aubrey. Sorry, I forgot to quote sagebrush mama.

and the person that responded to his comment seemed off too. not sure what Obama has to do with it. don't want to get a politics debate started on here, though.

If I want to buy my food from a roadside stand and take the responsibility of washing it myself in case the farmer's fertilizer was a little too natural for my tastes, I think I should have the freedom to do that.

Boy is this guy lucky that he's never had to till his own land to supplement his food, or hoped that a few dollars raised from a good harvest could help buy his kids a new pair of shoes. Low-class? I guess that is just another term for "I don't make enough money, so I'm trying to do something about it wherever I can."

Yes, seth, inquiring minds want to know when you will be joining us in this affliction!

Just beware, we will always support you getting more chickens. None of us have any willpower.

Well, I have changed my ideal order. I have enabled myself, Sunny and Missy to get more chickens! Missy is going to take some of my "extra" current pullets (including a SLW) so I have room for the new ones. Gotta love the chicken math. I started out thinking about getting 6 hens. Then I thought, maybe 8 would be good the first year and then add 4 more then next year so I would have 12. Then we decided to build a 10x10 coop instead of 8x8. I thought I would just get 12 the first year and have room in the coop to get more the second year. Then I placed my order and thought I might as well get 25 so I won't have any packing peanuts to get rid of. Then I can sell the extra pullets and just keep 12 for this year.

Well, easier said than done. I have just placed an order for more chicks and I haven't even had the first ones for a year.

"Low-class" is what he was showing by saying such a thing. Apparently he is under the delusion that he is somehow better than those of us who choose not to eat poison, and don't trust the government when they tell us what is "safe"!

Hey guys! Just thought i would update some pics of my last four babies. They are extra cute and I am very happy with the cut ;)

Although i was very excited to show pictures of Olive also. Her feathers came in so beautifully. She is a buff orpxblue orp . One of gennys birds.

olive with gherkin the lurkin' turken. (shes always lurkin'.)

Gilbert! five months old now and absolutely stunning. I cant wait to see how he looks in another five months!

And of course little nanners. She so sweet. And for those of you getting polish let me just say that shes five months old, she has been laying for a solid two weeks and has only taken a day off. I would say almost all of my other birds took longer to start laying.

I love her. she ALWAYS squats for me. She will squat upon just hearing my voice, lol.

more of my gil! He crows WAY MORE than petey ever did.
Here he is about to blow over.

The fab four...

Mr. Sir Fluffy Bottom Poofy Pants.

I love Dottie's dots.

I wish i could have gotten better photos, but everyone is not in the mood to hold still in all of this wind!

Yeah I agree with you Elizabeth. Those first 2 comments are really weird. Don't think either of these folks live in the same world we do. I was blissfully ignorant of the comments til Ron brought it to our attention. I never realized that having roadside stands was so restricted here. Makes sense now that I know a little more.

Even in California we had roadside stands everywhere but they don't here. I guess I always assumed there weren't many farms here since water is at a premium but when I saw how many farms there are in the area from that site that Sheryl linked about the farmer's markets in Nevada I was very surprised! Now I understand why I didn't realize they were there.

Good to know we can sell our eggs for 30 days out of the year.

Hope the County Commissioner gets her way and gets these changes in place before the growing season starts. That would be awesome! Great article Sheryl, thanks for the link.
