Nevadans?

Yeah, Julie, if you can see if there's anything I can do about it, go for it!! Thanks!! Sadly, I cant get my orriginal girls back because her dogs got out and did a mass murder. She told me she only had three left, and I noticed my purple EE girl was gone. :/ But the kicker? She called the Humane Society and told them our dogs were dangerous and dug a hole under her pen to attack her chickens. One of those animal people came out, and just laughed at her. (The dogs run with the chickens 90% of the time unsupervised.)
But my mom's mean, she got six or seven hens back on two seperate occasions, thats when she was actually giving them back. (Hence the "They just flew into my coop" story. Funny how the roosters never fly over.) She moved her coop now where we cant see it, but I happened to be on the roof of my house during the air races and noticed a couple more of my girls!! thats when she wouldnt give them back. And I have pictures of everyone, except my new chickens since my camera got broke. Im soo getting metal bands. Great idea!! As for right now, Im just going to try to let it go, and pretend that I dont get a little ****** every time I think about it. And up the security on my new coop and move the old one, because its honestly not worth the arguement at the moment. Imagine if Forrest Gump was a rude ignorant loud white trash woman, and thats my neighbor. However, if she takes my SQ birds, heads will roll.

As for names, how do you like Brindle for the second chick Aubrey? She kinda looks Brindle. And chill, I saw your FB post, you're in good company, I think everyone on BYC gets up becore 8 and does chores. ^^ Don't let anyone get you down, you're too cool for that.

Haha, I love everyone coming to my defense over chicken thievery!! We can all just show up at her door sometime like a crazy riot. lol, sweet sweet daydream.

3 eggs so far today. someone woke me up at 6:30 this morning with an egg song but didn't lay until hours later.

One of the SLW was in the nest box this afternoon so I know which one is hers.

let us know when you need a BYC riot and I'll show up! I agree with ron, set up a coop cam and catch her on camera!

Lacey, thanks so much for the reminder of how awesome my neighbors are! After almost 3 years in this house, I don't know anyone more than one house in each direction, but all the people adjacent to me are awesome. But then, they're also very earthy parents in their 30s, all scraping by while trying to keep things fair and honest. This whole neighborhood seems to have that attitude, or maybe I just pay attention to the cool ones.

One of the adjacent houses just went empty, though. Well, by the time they get it ready for new tenants, it will be very obvious we have critters. So hopefully cranky people just won't be interested.

Nice low-key day today. I'm making bún thịt nướng... Vietnamese bbq pork over rice noodles. People who think it's expensive to eat healthy need to try cooking Vietnamese cuisine for a family. It's amazing how cheap it can be.

whooo the eggs start hatching and i am already 1 away from a full hatch. awesome green egg looks so cool
love the paintings
chapter one of sunnys auto biography.
i was just a normal puddle of olive oil as a child splashing through my youth. The best day of my life was when i changed from olive oil to human.

So I'm thinking about dropping the blue silkies from my ideal order (not yours, Missy, don't worry). I'm just not sure if I want to branch out into silkie land at this point. I'm torn. Will they be high maintenance? Will they be able to navigate the ramp into the coop on their own? Will they be able to mingle ok with the LF? Thoughts, anyone?

Missy - I'm doing very well with my customers and I'll be more than happy to add you to the list too.

Sunny, I still can't imagine you being called Olive Oyl.

Alright Elizabeth! Yesterday the girls laid 9 out of 10 so that wasn't too bad. I've never had a 10 out of 10 day yet but I'm ready for it.

Everything is going great so far with the incubator too. It's holding steady at 99.5 degrees but the humidity is a tad bit high at 51% but hey it looks really good.

Jeesh, no experience here, but I was thinking of putting the silkies (if they're female) in the old coop with the ducks... letting the ducks have their own coop so I can give them a nice bowl of dunking water, and letting the silkies take the top portion to live in. But it's all such a learning experience here. As much as I want silkies, I do keep forgetting about them when I count all the chicks I have coming. Since they're straight run, from Ideal, I might just be paying for a short companionship before I find homes for a couple of roosters. I do also worry about the pecking order with the LF I have, though I think silkies and faverolles will get along great. My gentle faverolles are going to learn what bullying is, when the flock gets bigger.

OMG Missy! I love Vietnamese BBQ! That is one of the things I really miss about the Bay Area! All the fantastic little "hole in the wall" restaurants featuring some fantastic food!

I've always wanted to learn to speak Vietnamese. Once I get Spanish down a little better I might give it a try.

Seth you crack me up!

Ron I love the Nanny cam idea! That's exactly what she needs! Hopefully before she starts eyeing those beautiful SQ birds.

Elizabeth from what I have read the silkies will not be able to navigate the ramp. They don't usually roost either and a nest box above floor level will not work either. Never had them myself but you can do a search for posts about them. They are super friendly and great brooders though!

Sheryl I can tell you haven't seen pics of me from when I was younger. I was most often called the Jolly Green Giant. Thank goodness I stopped growing so young! I think my parents were afraid I was gonna be 7' tall.

It's also a good thing I was not born in a time of periodic famine. With my metabolism I never would have made it past 5 years of age.

Missy, I wouldn't put the silkies and ducks together though with the cayuga's. The ducks are way too big for those little birds.

Yeah Sunny, I won't be able to picture it. How's the bread machine? I just missed you by 2 minutes.
