I keep seeing this pinterest and have not a clue what it's all about?

I'm not exactly sure. I just know that a lot of friends are totally addicted to it and keep sending me invites. I rejected Facebook for 2 years, saying I didn't have time to lead a social life over the internet.

Yeah well... at least I only have two websites supporting my social life.

Oh the fresh milk is the best... illegal to buy or sell in Nevada, so cow sharing seems to be a great way to go because one is doing neither. Illegal to bring across state lines also... ugh! Don't get me started on the whole "raw" milk thing! It is a complete pet peeve of mine. Had some friends who where Mennonite (left the church) we used to get the fresh milk all the time, made kefir etc etc etc...

Oh, that's a bummer. I was raised on fresh milk. We drank 2 gallons a day, on average, so to keep us in milk my dad worked weekends at my uncle's dairy in trade for all the milk we could handle. The first time I tasted storebought milk, I was very disappointed.

Speaking of fresh, homegrown stuff, I found an ad for these guys on Craigslist. We raised lambs growing up... most of our meat was lamb, with a bit of rabbit, chicken, and venison on the side. It's so expensive in the stores! I emailed him for a price list, and he has some great cuts available. He's out off of Red Rock Road. http://www.wixfarms.com/

Hey all. I think Im going to get rid of my birchen roo. I paid 25$, so if anyone wants him for that, speak up. He's Show quailty. I lost my hen.

She was the sweetest girl. The rabbit coop where I had them in quarintine blew open yesterday afternoon, and I cant find her anywhere. There arent even feathers. The roo was just chillin with the other chickens.

Pinterest is kind of like a visual internet bookmark site. You make "boards" to pin ideas you see on sites on the internet so you can keep them for later. Friends and others who follow you on pinterest can see your pins and then pin them on their boards if they like something. I resisted it for awhile but just recently got on it. I have found a lot of gardening ideas, craft ideas, recipes, organization, DIY, stuff like that. I don't get on it every day. Just once in awhile.

Horseshowmom are you saying that I cannot buy raw milk in California and take it home?!!! Even with a cow share I have to cross into CA to get it home! Sharing a cow and labor is sounding better and better.

Lacey have you looked in your neighbor's coop? Maybe your girl "blew" over into her yard.

Hmmmm, I just had an image in my head of a chicken theft device sort of like the dye packs that go into bank robbery bags. It would take awhile to get the blue dye off of your birds, but that would make someone stop "adopting" someone else's chickens.

Cow share. That's such an awesome idea. I'd be totally into a timeshare cow. If we had better soil and better precipitation, I know a lot of people who would be interested in a workshare farm, sort of a hippie commune with no communal living or weed smoking.

Hi Reno! I'm new here... just got 8 chicks, and am finishing my coop. I saw your posts about the lamb, I actually almost emailed about it, too! Thanks for posting the packages and prices info!

As for raw milk, I know some grad students who "own" a cow, so they are provided with fresh raw milk, but they don't keep it or care for it. Basically to get around legalities a small group pays for a cow's feed and keep and are given its fresh raw milk. I'm not sure how they got that set up, but I can definitely ask.

Has anyone bought beef from Wolf Pack meats or grass-fed beef from local ranchers? I just got a big chest freezer, so I'm considering making a meat investment, but I'm a little unsure where to start for that.
