Nevadans?

My new bator kept going up and down all night! Up to 99.5 and down to 99.4. hahaha What a difference! I wonder if I put a Brinsea thermostat in the other one if it will hold such lovely temps? I'm going to add water now and test the humidity.

I just found one of the BLRW chicks dead in the brooder.

It looks like her neck was broken. I don't know what happened. I think she was a pullet, too. The neck is floppy but the rest of her body is stiff. this is my first chicken death. I'm just stunned. Everyone was fine last night at midnight. She was lying on her back at the back of the brooder.

Sheryl what swap is this? Are they her own birds? I've never seen a swap in Reno except for a few local neighbors getting together which is not the same thing as the huge auctions they have in California and many other places. Is this the Poultry show that happens in November? They sell very few birds there. Mostly unwanted roos. And it is also tiny compared to most poultry shows.

No, this swap is one Julie puts together and she did it with her birds and if anyone else wanted to join in they could. It's where I met Heather last year and paid for the WH's ducks and she held them for me until November. She had your Lavender Orpington Rooster there, he was the most gorgeous bird I've ever seen. He was huge and majestic. He was taken fast too. Heather wanted to buy him but he was gone before she could tell Julie she wanted him.

She'll let us know when it is this year.
They also have the occasional swaps at local feed stores, like the one in Washoe Valley. That's where I first met Aubrey. Those are usually pretty small.

Oh no, poor thing! That's baffling how that happened.

Well, I'm doing it. I'm picking up a friend in a half hour to ride with me when I meet the rabbit dude. He says he has brown, black, patchy colored... he gave me his home address, but I offered him extra money to meet me at an easy-to-find public location. I just asked him to grab a boy and a girl, different colors. I'll sex them when I pick them up, since having two bucks isn't going to do me any good.
