Oh! I had forgotten. Thanks for the reminder. OK I will add her to the list. I think I'm still ok. I have 14 girls and if I keep 5 of those that still gives me 9 girls. It's just that so many of them are laying such a nice dark egg. I really thought I'd be lucky to get 2 keepers out of this batch! Turns out not to be the case. lol We should always have these kinds of problems huh?

Sunnydawn, You do culls? Can you private message me at [email protected] to let me know your fee's extra?

By culls they mean they want the BCM girls I am not keeping. I am doing a dark egg project and don't care about SQ, so these girls could be show stoppers and I would still sell them if they don't lay a really dark egg. This is the first season so in a few seasons I should have really dark eggs if I keep hatching only the darkest eggs. I haven't even set a price yet. Most folks here have just traded birds/services with me. In exchange I've promised these cull girls to them. I'll have to email you when I get back late this afternoon. Gotta run now. DH is rushing me out the door.

On my list of folks wanting culls I have; Kim, Pam and Sheryl who have already paid for theirs and then I have Aubrey down for 1 or 2. I also have Lacey, Elizabeth and Missy down as having expressed a possible interest a while ago although you all have more chickens now so you probably don't need them right now, which works for me, plus I will be hatching out some of the darkest eggs soon so anyone else that wants some can get some in a month or so.

I'm really crossing my fingers for at least 1 marans pullet out of these culls I picked up from Candy. Plus my welsummer, olive egger, ameraucanas, and the brabanter and minorca, when they all start laying, will make my basket really colorful. So I'm in no huge hurry... a BCM is still very high on my wish list, though.

Well, I started peppering the food this morning. I just kept a shaker of ground cayenne in the coop, and whenever I checked for eggs I sprinkled the cayenne on top of the food in the tray. Either the chickens really like the cayenne or the dogs will be consuming a lot of water in the future, because the food level was down at least 2 inches in the feeder well. I think the cayenne was gone from the rim, which probably indicates doggy tongues. It's what stopped Tater from eating the leaves of my banana plant, so hopefully it'll stop them from eating chicken food as well.

I found 2 green eggs today! Also one that is brown with white speckles.

LOL I see I'm not the only one still wide awake in the wee hours of the morning. Thanks for the info.

So no one but Kim has responded to my jokes lately but this one is not a joke but a true story so I hope you all will like it. Since we only have wise younguns on here that would never get offended at this (cause they are way too smart to ever be like this and laugh at their peers that are this dumb) I figure this is a good thread to post this on.

OK I'm pretty tired so not sure that made much sense but this will...

Hey everyone, if you have time, there is a rabbit show going on at Shopper's Square. Seth is there with 3 of his... some mighty fine looking rabbits he has!
We were out and about and could have stopped over there but I didn't see this in time. Would have been fun to see Seth and his rabbits.

Hopefully your plan will work!

Today is day 20 and he just called me to say that 7 have hatched so far. Here's some pics (not great quality - cell phone):

Sunny here is the Delaware Roo (at least I hope that's what it is) he has that I'm going to cross with the hens I got from you. This picture doesn't do him justice - he's really gorgeous.

There's a biker rally in Dayton today and I got this picture of a couple of the biker chicks.
