Nevadans?

LOL! That makes so much more sense!

Yes I just use the normal flock raiser and add water to it. They love it but I do need to give them a bath now and then cause they also like to get it all over each other. I tried the food processor route and that got old really quickly! What a dusty laborius effort that was!!!

Good luck whatever you decide.

congrats. so exciting!

Quote: You'll have plenty of time to have poultry a few years down the road when you're done with college. Just be sure you don't buy a house in a place where chickens are illegal or there are restrictions in the cc&rs!
where are you planning to go to college?
Right now I'm looking at going to WSU or a comminuty college becausece i should be able to afford that in Washinton. Hahaha can't put CC&Rs on something with 20 acres.

Can't remember who had all the tires to repurpose but I saw this and thought everyone would enjoy this idea.

Ron, all I can say is ouch! Hope the ice cream makes you feel better.

Sheryl, congratulations on your hatch.

The tires were me and those are beautiful, you're a life saver I accidently got a few tires that were to small to use in our wall and wasn't sure what to do with them.

I've seen some beautiful things done with tires and a little leftover paint. The kids would have so much fun slapping some extra paint on tires so you could plant them! My husband built me some planter boxes out of an old fence, and he let the neighbor kids come over and stick their hands in some nearly-expired house paint, then put their prints all over the planters. They're so cute!

Elizabeth, I don't know how fragile jaerhorns are, but about an hour ago I had an unfortunate accident with one of my silkies. I was holding a silkie and my cochin, showing my husband the difference in the two blue colors, when the silkie jumped off. It didn't drop more than 18 inches, but landed in just the right spot to kill it. I'm guessing it had to do with the vaulted skull. I feel horrible because it was such a senseless thing. This is the first "stupid" death we've had so far. After working so hard to save them from coryza, I lose one to falling on its head.

Here are a few chick and duck picks, even if everyone isn't in the best health.

Here are Sahara's ducks, cuddling with her blanket and bear. I tried my best to photoshop the duck poop out of there.

A rough comparison between a 2-wk chick and a 2-wk duck. Century is kind of scrunched up, but it gives you a vague idea.

Burger, the silver spangled hamburg. That's a big, red comb for such a little chick! He has sneezing and wheezing but is still very active.

Dijon, the cream brabanter. The first one to get sick in this batch, and the one to reach the sickest point before starting to recover. Today her eyes were a bit filmy, but she was active.

Finger the Minorca, who has shown no signs of ill health. No pasty butt, no raspy breath, no nasal discharge, no lethargy.

Fried Rice the Speckled Sussex. Today, she's the sickest one.

General Tso, nicknamed my "Superfluff." I can't help but pick her up whenever I'm in there.

Korma the dark brahma. She was pretty sick yesterday, but this morning just had filmy eyes.

Kung Pao the exchequer leghorn. So far, her only symptoms have been a tiny bit of swelling around the eyes, so small that you almost couldn't see it.

Nugget and Bite-size. (recycled name from the last silkies I had.) I lost one today after it jumped from my hand and landed wrong.

Strip the turken. I'm loving how she's feathering out. At least she'll be pretty from one angle. She's stout and healthy, showing no signs of illness.

Taco, the RIR. So far, she's been pretty resistant to the disease. Since she's Sahara's chick, we hope she doesn't come down hard with it. That would be a lot of drama!

Hi everyone

SO sorry about your Silkie chick Missy!

I thought that for those of you that have the buff x wheaten chicks from my birds, you might like to see pictures of the three, four month old pullets that are full siblings to your chicks.
I would love to see pictures of everyone's chicks (all the breeds) to see how they are turning out

Here are a couple of pictures of the 3 rooster chicks I kept that hatched with Sunny's order. They are impossible to get a good picture of since they come running and want to be petted or held! I love these guys! Sunny, your wheaten boy is in the middle of the first picture.
