Speaking of special-needs farm, Original hurt her foot somehow yesterday. I can't figure out what's wrong with it. She's queen of the yard, but when I was throwing out pieces of bread, her subjects were stealing the bread from her. She's just limping around. But luckily for her, she's earned a lifetime spot here, unless something happens and we have to put her down. Hopefully the foot heals soon, because it's painful just watching her limp around.

Have you picked her up and checked her feet? Feel her hock joint, or any other joint in her leg, and see if it is hot? She may have twisted a joint or maybe has bumblefoot or a broken toe?

If you find heat in a joint, you can help her out with blueberries. They have natural aspirin in them. Getting her to try them will be the hardest part because of how dark they are... but once she tries them there will be no turning back!

I keep them in my freezer and thaw out about a tablespoon or so for a large fowl. You'll probably have to separate her to give them to her because the other girls will want them too once they see her eating them. Though I'm not against giving them yummy treats like that, they're a bit pricey and the only time my birds get blueberries is if someone is in pain.

Hope she recovers soon.
