Never seen this happen on my egg?!

Probably just a glitch, can happen at any time.
Looks like excessive, and smeared on the way out, bloom.
Does it wash off?
Is it 'crusty'?
The egg is totally smooth and when I wash it, it gets chalky again.
And yes my hens are all very happy and healthy with no notice of starange behaviors.
I’ve had a few that I’ve saved. I’m very hands on with my girls.

Any idea what may have been happening during egg production? Something I should be aware of? :idunno I thought to much calcium.

The hen is a 7 month old Delaware and seems to be very happy and healthy.
My 8 month-old black star's eggs frequently have variegated colors like that, although the contrast isn't quite as dramatic as yours. One of my RI Reds occasionally lays a multi-colored egg too. The shells are otherwise even and sturdy, and the eggs themselves are perfect when cracked open. I just assume it's a little glitch in the paint factory.

My maran, who’s just come out of moult, is doing the same thing. The two eggs she’s laid both have uneven colouring. Once everything’s settles down and she’s back into a normal layering rhythm I expect the shells will become more consistent.
