new 3 day old chicks

I just got my order of baby chicks in the mail today, I had ordered 16 plus a free one from Meyer. two of the baby chicks were dead when I got them home. Any suggestions to make sure the rest make it?

Constant, even temperature around 95 degrees F. Keep their water as clean as possible and dip their beaks in it until they drink on their own. Hard boil an egg and mash with a fork, and offer next to their regular feed.

It's normal to lose a chick or two in shipping. If you call the hatchery they will usually refund you for chicks that arrive dead.

thank you, I was so worried that they all would be dead its been so cold the last few days I was afraid of them freezing during shipping.

You can try Nutri Drench. I ordered 5 two weeks ago from MPC and it took around 48 hours to receive and I lost 2/5 within 24 hours and one had what I think was a wei genetic defect.
i reordered 8 more, used the nutri drench, and all of them are extremely healthy going on 4 days now.

Hope the others are ok, I really hate the riskiness of shipping but am relieved as I'm sure you'll do your best for them!
