Hi all I just added a blue laced barnevelder pullet to my flock and I decided to get one because I’ve read that they are super docile but this one is super skittish and she pecks me(sadly I can’t return or exchange)… does anyone else have skittish ones or did I just get bad luck? I’m looking into get the double laced silver and the regular black ones but now I’m not so sure because I want my family to be able to pet them… 😕
I’ll add photos of her in the evening.

Here’s how I tame wild chickens:
- I purchase or make some chicken treats and toss some on the ground for the wild monster to eat after they start eating it they will always want more (if their really really good treats) so I continue to throw them treats and stand near by so they can see me. Eventually they start to eat the treats out of my
You may think that this process will take forever but it actually is very quick 😁

Some people don't think different breeds really have different personality traits just based on breed, but I can tell you that when I decided to get a Blue Laced Barnevelder my good friend advised me not too. She kept saying that hers was her most skittish, standoffish, take forever to start laying, etc. Well, mine is exactly this. I've had maybe 60chickens/13 different breeds and this is by far the most non-human interactive of them all. She won't even join the flock at first when i let them out to range during the day. The whole flock will be a 1/2 acre away but together, and she will still be lingering at the coop/run. I didn't raise has any differently than any other chick, she's just fradey chicken

Could it be that she wasn't handled much as a chick and just needs some time and attention, she might turn around.
She was handled by the lady who hatched her. When the lady handed her to me there was no problem it was up until I got home with her and tried picking her up again she bit me. I was like maybe she’s scared I’ll give her a couple of days to get used to me but nope… she will run toward me to bite me. 😂

I will give that a try! Thank you.
