Our very first baby chick to hatch and live joined us today, we are currently waiting on another baby chick and two ducklings to hatch. This baby chicks mother decided to be mother hen to everyone’s babies, so have to watch and wait to see how this will turn out!

This little ones mother is a silver phoenix/game bird mix while the father is a silver phoenix/maran mix.

The other baby if survives will be a silver phoenix/maran mix crossed with an australorp waiting to see how that baby comes out.

The ducklings are khaki campbells, the parent ducks did hatch two ducklings back in December happily named fluffers and Kiko both of which are now 3 months old.

Now to work on building my flock back up!

My hen is incubating and raising the eggs/hatchlings

Mom and baby this morning, gave her some scrambled egg to eat on. Our weather is all over the place from being hot one day and cold the next, today it’s windy with dirt in the air.

Ooh, they are both so beautiful! You should have a gorgeous chicken someday!!
Thank you, so much! I’m hoping to get some females so I can get more eggs. Our flock went from 12 to 3 last year.

2 got stuck by lightening, 2 killed by dogs, the rest died by drowning in their drinking water. :/ not very smart things.

Here is a picture of the other mom and then of my khaki campbells.

Nibbler and squeakers are the parents and you’ll see fluffers and Kiko who are their first Borns from December in the picture as well.

Here’s 2 pictures of her nest though we lost one of the brown ones due to a default in the shell. The one with the pip was from yesterday before our baby joined the world.

Congratulations on a successful hatch and welcome in the club of 1st time hatchers. My very first chicken hatched today too and is a Mottled Ancona (mom) with a Silverrud Isabar (roo). One more is on the way and the 1st one has not finished drying off.
