I just picked up a 3 1/2 week old cockatiel from a breeder friend and I am super excited! s/he is a yellow faced grey pied. I am wanting any advise you guys are willing to give me!

I have hand fed parrots before and like to use the spoon method. Right now the little one is asleep in my brooder cuddling with a stuffed toy. s/he is only partly feathered so I dont want it to get chilled. (brooder is set to 85F)

first feeding is done :) I'm used to spoon feeding and this baby only has been syringe fed so far so I had to learn real quick haha. I like spoon feeding so much better though. s/he ate a whole 4.6CCs <3

Oh my goodness! Too cute! I have a Tiel as well, but I got her after she was weaned. I can answer your questions regarding your baby when s/he grows up! Do you have cage ready for her/him yet? I will post some pictures of my girl later, her name is Cora and she is getting over a yeast problem! Poor thing!!

awww poor dear. just do what the vet says and Im sure she will be okay :) I dont have a cage yet I got her/him in a trade with a breeder friend of mine for some of the button quail I just hatched haha so it was an impulse buy pretty much. I do plan on getting a nice flight cage for her and keeping button quail on the bottom of the cage.

Thanks for hoping for Cora's well being!
I would be careful, I am not sure if keeping the quail and the Tiel together is a good idea. Cockatiels are sensitive to fowl diseases! I would recommend a second cage/aviary for her, and if she is outside a partner (male or female) might be a good call as they get lonely. Birds usually do best with others of their own species. Good luck with the chick! :)

thanks :) I cant wait until his/hers personality starts to show. Right now it is very sweet but just wants food and doesn't try to cuddle or play or anything haha.

When is the best time to start introducing mash/adult feed? Yes I know it probably will be a few weeks still, I just dont want to wait to long and he becomes picky

Also when should I start introducing toys? right now it has a purple stuffed toy to cuddle with so it wont be lonely....
