I couldnt help it, I put one more egg under my broody today! That makes 8 eggs! Idk how many will hatch but im hoping all of them. Its really too bad I have to sell all of the chicks. I dont know bout alla yall but im candeling on MONDAY!!! YEA!

ohhh... I wish I had more than 3 eggs! I only have room for 6 hens, everyone is doing so many!... I need to post pics.
My first hatch I did 7 eggs and got one chick. So this time I asked two different friends for 6-9 eggs each. They each gave me more than asked for and already I am down 5. I too only want5-6 hens but of course there is also the possibility of getting roos instead of hens. If they all hatch I am not sure what we will do!!

The lady said they are Orpingtons. She thinks blue, but not sure. This is my first time with chicks (or chickens) so, I don't know.

I see you have them outside..how old are they? My chicks are 2 weeks and I still have a heat lamp on them..I wonder if its OK to take t off of them now? And when can they stay outside all the time?? Anyone know?

Quote: They are 2 weeks old. The lady I bought them from said she only had a heat lamp on them for the first week. I only had them out for a little bit when we first brought them home. It was 88 degrees and humid here today. I had to do something with them while I got the brooder set up. (they were in one of those plastic plant pots) I don't know when they can stay out all the time.

I have 2 3 week old chicks. They are still undrt a ligjt. You are suppose to reduce their brooder temp by 5 degrees each week. I have been told that they can be outside on a permanent basis when they get all their feathers in. I would say at a month. I am thinking more like 6 weeks for mine. My barred rock has more feathers than my wyndotte at 3 weeks. Some have brooders outside thouh and here in the south it is getting pretty warm out so maybe even during the day they would be ok outside a little earlier. I like having mine inside where they are safe but as they get bigger it might become a problem.
