New Brahma Group: Blue Partridge x Partridge, Plus Dark

Thanks, appreciate that. If not, there may be another in either Brandy's or Bonnie's batch. I don't really need any more birds in that pen, but Bash doesn't have a splash partridge girl.

That's what gets me with my birds too. "Well, I don't have one of that color yet, so I better keep it." Lol!

Brandy has two chicks out, two pipped and one I know is alive, but not sure it's pipped. Today is Day 21. One of the hatched chicks seems very light, so probably Betsy's.

Brandy has five new chicks today. Two are very light colored, so probably belong to Betsy, who seems to produce chicks with very reddish-colored down and usually blue or splash. Brandy, being a 5 time mom already, is happy and teaching them to eat and drink without any help from anyone. That littlest chick is actually Brandy's own, last to hatch very late last night, and a probable cockerel, judging by his size as well as the width of the back of his pea comb. Here are pics showing four of the five.

Bonnie's eggs are hatching, not sure how many are hatched, but at least two or three of the seven were pipped at midday. She is challenging to handle while they're hatching, never really calms down until they're all here. Very fierce!
Here are the older chicks who will be 3 weeks old on Tuesday. Three of the Brahma pullets are leaving tomorrow, which includes maybe the injured pullet. She gets around to eat and drink and goes down the ramp to outside by herself. She has more issue going up it, but mainly, I think, because she wears herself out when they're out playing.

This one at the top seems like a great big cockerel. Shoulder feathers are more solid black than patterened. He's larger than all the other males, if so. And a BR pullet.

All Rocks (except little "I wanna be a Brahma" gal).

This buxom beauty is Cora's sister. Cannot decide if she's splash or super light blue partridge. Patterned shoulder feathers, so girly.

About 2/3 of the way to the right, the splash chick I thought was a boy. Nope.

Lovely lady bought two Brahma pullet chicks and took home the little injured pullet as well. She is someone who will take good care of her, do her therapy, etc. I did not charge her for that pullet because, as I told her, there is no way to know what her future will be. But she was happy to get all three of them and will make her little life as good as it can be. At least, this way, we don't have to think about euthanizing her. We really have no place for her here, not now, not with all the old hens we have to care for already. If she's like Zane, she may have permanent tendon damage, but might still have a life.

Brandy's chicks this morning. And Bonnie guarding her new hatchlings. Today is her Day 21 and I know three are hatched, may be more under there, but I value my life.

Thanks, Lisa. Bonnie has 6 of the 7 hatched and maybe even #7 has made it out by now. It had a big pip a few hours back. MaryJo is acting more and more broody. I really, REALLY don't want to deal with another broody. Tom's back is really out today and it's not easy to deal with all the various chicken dramas, try to continue my quilting projects plus do all the other stuff that needs doing around here.
