New Brahma Group: Blue Partridge x Partridge, Plus Dark

This is one of my favorite photos of Brandy with her first brood of chicks quite a while back. She has the best coloring of them all and is the sweetest broody ever, sweetest hen ever. She is still semi-broody, but I think she's beginning to pull out of it now. The 6th time is the first time I did not allow her to have eggs and she's a bit confused, poor girl.
Still battling with Betsy's crop issue. Sigh.

I love this close-up--am able to see her pretty feather pattern :love

Sorry to pop in out of nowhere. This thread and all of the great information within all 126 pages is why I actually created my BYC account.

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on some GFF Blue partridge chicks about 5 months ago. They have been an absolute joy to own and I can’t imagine ever not having Brahmas after raising these guys.

The only problem I’m having is trying to pin down the color of my Cockerel. The rooster he’s out of is a splash and his mom was blue but his coloring is almost a Mottled/Mille Fleur Blue PT.

Would you mind if I posted a picture of him for some input?

Here are some pics of my 3 blue Brahmas. Terry is the male Carrie and Sherry are the girls. My lightest female and my male were the same almost splash yellow chipmunk chicks and my regular blue female looked like a regular partridge chick (she looks a little rough because of a splash cockerel we had decided to pluck her wing feathers but she’s on the mend)

Hi, glad to see another Brahma lover. Your male is blue partridge and I usually do see some white tipped feathers at that age which molt out later. I'm not sure if he carries some mottling gene or not. His chest has more white than most of them. I often see some white tips, especially on the leg feathers, so not so unusual. As with all Brahma coloring, time will certainly tell whether he loses that white or not.

Thank you so much Speckledhen. I knew this would be the best place to get some clarification. Finding solid information about these guys who s definitely tough at times and I have learned so much from this thread over the last few months.

I’ve been in awe of how studly and well behaved your Bash is and hope my Terry ends up just as handsome and friendly.

You're very welcome. I don't claim to be an expert. I do have mille fleur D'Anvers so I know how the mottling gene works to a degree. And if something else is lurking in his line, he could have it, but I think you'll need to wait until he gets more of his adult plumage and see if it all molts out over the next couple of months. If he's half the sweetheart that Bash is, you'll have a real treasure!

The something lurking in his lineage is what I initially thought as well. Mostly because it almost looks like lacing on some of his chest feathers and my lighter pullet as well. I know the lady I purchased them from also had a blue laced red Wyandotte rooster over some blue partridge hens but I don’t think they are mixed because they are kept in separate pens but eggs can always get mixed up I suppose.

I will get some pics of the lacing on my girl when I take out frozen bottles and treats for them this morning.

Those special cases of lurking genes is how I got Tiny the Terrorist Attack Hen, LOL.
