New Brahma Group: Blue Partridge x Partridge, Plus Dark

Pics
Bruno was crowing his heart out this morning. It didn't sound like what I heard a couple of days ago so I think that must have been Bash, but Big Bruno was really belting it out. They'll be 16 weeks old Wednesday.

The only semi-successful photo today. They were running too much because of the other groups outside.

@junebuggena @brahmapapa @Sjisty check out these kids at 15 weeks old. Bonnie and Bailey made themselves scarce today for the photo op.

Betsy's coloring is interesting, just not as well laced on the back but redder than Bonnie's, though they are quite similar at first glance.
And, that Bash, oh my. I'm positive I chose the very best Blue Partridge male.

I am seeing more red/gold in Bruno's hackles, traveling down from the head.

That Brandy has beautiful lacing.

Looks like those 3 girls on the nest box are gazing at that full tail in the next pen

Haha, if he disappears, I'll know where to look! J/K, but isn't he dreamy? I realize these two male are approaching the age when I usually look for signs of aggression, but I've rarely heard of Brahma roosters who are like that. Of course, nothing is 100% with an animal. What is your experience? Any mean guys?

Our first Brahma boy, Rocky, would run up behind us and flog us. I think it was a game. He never was really mean. If I heard him coming and turned around, he would stop short, adjust his halo, and saunter off whistling (at least that's what it seemed). One time I was bent over a cage of young chicks - he got me right in the posterior - almost knocked me head first into the cage! Anyway, he only did this occasionally and never tried to spur us. He gave it up completely after a couple of years.

The meanest Brahma we ever had was a partridge hen! We rescued her from the jaws of one of our Great Danes when she decided the grass looked better in their yard. The extra attention she got from her wounds made her super-tame, but not in a good way. She would strike like a snake and even hang on! She has calmed down in the year since, but I dread her ever going broody! Her name, appropriately, is Meanie.

A rooster of that size with a bad attitude would be really bad. I hope beyond hope that my two stay sweet. I can't be knocked off my feet by a 15 lb rooster, that's for sure. Funny about the hen. She earned that name. Sounds like my Tiny Terrorist, who came from a BBS Ameraucana flock out of a beautiful blue egg, but as she grew (complete with spurs), it was apparent that Sumatra was in her lineage somewhere. She has bad eyesight and will flog and peck my husband when he gets near her. She is putty in my hands because I instituted a program of "Make Tiny Sweet", but he has to watch his eyes when he's cleaning the roost in the morning. The other hens usually act as his bodyguards and put the smackdown on her if she attacks him, but Tiny is going on 7 years old and will never change. However, she is only about 4-5 lbs at her heaviest so not the force of a Brahma.

Not as pretty as your Bash, but here's a youngster from my blue experimentation. Not a very good picture - he was passing by just as I happened to be holding my iPad.
