I love it when he plants his feet apart and stands up tall. He's so regal!Such a proud boy
You can try that. It's easier to integrate youngsters with other youngsters than adults, usually, I've found. Since Bonnie is done with hers and Brandy may soon follow, I'm going to put the two groups together until I sell the extras.I have my first broody. She started sitting on Monday. I snuck 2 other eggs under her. I have buff Orpingtons with a silkie cockerel. I think the eggs are fertile based on looking at them when I crack them. I had ordered 4 new pullets to be shipped 4 weeks from yesterday. I am wasn't sure if I should let her brood her eggs or give her ceramic ones till the chicks come and then try to graft them on her.
But then my husband got her all set in the dog kennel in the coop and she looked so cozy that I decided we'll leave her be. But i was worried about trying to integrate two new groups.
It sounds like maybe I can put the 4 chicks with the hatched ones once mama is done with them? Should I put all the chicks at that point in the dog kennel in the coop and then try to integrate them? I'm all stressed about the integration and was going to try brooding in the coop but my broody girl messed that all up.

They all look so peaceful together - remember how terrified the Brahma kids were when the terrorist BR's crashed the party last year?![]()
