New Brahma Group: Blue Partridge x Partridge, Plus Dark

Your little boys sure like to fight early. I've never seen that in mine, though maybe I just miss it. I mostly see chest bumps that ends up with one running and getting a head peck and than it's over.

I have no clue about the sexes, and definitely no clue about extra attachments.

My BRs don't do this, not to this degree, but the Brahma boys always do. It's crazy for such a mild-mannered male.

My video is done, finally.

That's crazy. Never seen anything like that in chicks, though I've watched plenty of rooster fights between my bantam cochins. Love the bat.

I forgot to add, I'm glad you muscles them do it. Novice owners would be panicking and separating them. Best to work it out while they are young.

I love my yearly visit from the bat, too. He/she stays 2-3 weeks in the same spot, then I guess goes off to hibernate for winter. Wonder what it thinks about the crazy human talking to it.

Oh, yeah, I don't separate the fighting chicksters unless someone is really getting hurt. I did put some zinc oxide type cream on the little one's bare, pecked-up shoulders, but they have to work it out. Any interference from me only drags it out longer. Those Brahmas are intense at that age!

What the heck spellchecker? Muscles? I think I meant let, how did it get muscles?

Hahaha, spellcheck gone wild! I knew what you meant, of course, in spite of it.

Or maybe it would be "auto-correct". That thing makes for some interesting conversations.

I wormed all my chickens a few days ago so can't eat the eggs for at least a couple of weeks and not even then if I do the 2nd worming, which I usually skip. But, some of them just quit laying and went into a full molt anyway so not as many to collect, except for the Brahmas. DH collected 2 eggs from that pen yesterday. There are four hens, plus Cora, in there, and she has not laid her first egg to my knowledge. Brandy is with her chicks in another pen.

This a.m., I saw Bonnie, Miss Perpetual Broody, on the bottom nest way in the back. So, I threw some of the 13 grain scratch mix in their pan and she came running out. I saw FOUR eggs in the back of the nest she'd been sitting on so we quickly grabbed those out. It doesn't take much for her or Brandy to go broody and she's worse than Brandy. The 3rd time Bonnie went broody, we did not give her eggs, but also could not break her up so she was broody for about 4 weeks. Finally, she snapped out of it and I hoped she would not try it a 4th time this year. So, I'm hoping she's not going that way now. She ate and went right back to the nest, though. That girl, ack!
