New Brahma Group: Blue Partridge x Partridge, Plus Dark

@speckledhen, would you mind if I got a picture of my partridge pullet and posted it to see if you could help me tell if she is partridge or blue partridge?

Not at all. Would like to see her. Some of them are hard to call since blue can come in several shades, but usually, the hackles tell the tale.

I'm probably going to lose Betsy. We can't fix her crop. It's not going down, still very doughy, but also large. I'm going to syringe that formula with lemon juice and baking soda down her, but honestly, she's had baking soda in her water and I put lemon juice in yogurt I gave her from time to time so it hasn't worked so far, maybe not enough. And I then quit and even tried copper sulfate in the water for a couple of days. No success on that, either.

If I have to constantly baby some of these young hens with badly functioning crops, it's just too much. Maretta's was only sluggish a few days, most likely due to the stress on her from a hard molt, but now, she's fine. This is different.

This is the formula I mean that seemed to work last time when I had two of them at a time with the same issue. Got this off the web last time, can't recall where, though.

Sorry about Betsy :( Hopefully that formula works.

I hope so. Her crop seems a tad smaller this afternoon. If this doesn't work, she'll lose way too much weight. She's already thin. And Brandy is still trying to be broody. At least, her crop is functioning normally now. It was really bloated. I cut off the 13 grain mix any time she is with the group. Grains seem to make it worse.
Did I miss the picture of your Brahma girl?

I got rained out on the picture taking yesterday (seems all we ever get up here is rain now; I really hope that doesn't continue into winter and put us under ten feet of snow). But I was able to get a few today and after looking at the pictures I'm nearly certain she's blue partridge.

This is one of my favorite photos of Brandy with her first brood of chicks quite a while back. She has the best coloring of them all and is the sweetest broody ever, sweetest hen ever. She is still semi-broody, but I think she's beginning to pull out of it now. The 6th time is the first time I did not allow her to have eggs and she's a bit confused, poor girl.
Still battling with Betsy's crop issue. Sigh.
