New breed ‘No crow roosters’

The problem with breeding for roosters who crow quietly or not at all is that roosters like that are extremely rare. Also, many of them have a quiet/nonexistent crow due to environmental factors rather than genetic ones, so the trait doesn’t pass on to their offspring.
Uhm, the crow can be passed on genetically.

My Heritage Plymouth Barred Rock passed his screaming crow down to his son. Except his son's crow starts out like a JungleFowl, then ups it into a scream.

I'll get a video maybe later, if not tomorrow.

Wishing for a rooster that doesn’t crow is like me wishing for a contractor to come build a nice big pole barn on my place so my tractor doesn’t get wet every time it rains. You either have the money to change your situation or you don’t. If you can’t move to a place where roosters are accepted then deal with the terms set before you.

I’m not talking about how the crow sounds. I’m saying that non-crowing roosters are usually not crowing due to environmental factors, not genetic ones.

Sigh. :caf:caf:caf
Still waiting for a breeder with plenty of room who likes to create a new breed with soft crowing roosters.

City dwellers can’t and chicken lovers in the county don’t feel the urge.

The problem is that nearly all traits OP* has mentioned (crests, naked necks, ect) can from a gene mutation that was then targeted and purposely bred to increase the numbers
