New chick hatched 9 hours ago -->Help

Baby chick hatched 9 hours ago was born with a defect. Didn't notice earlier as baby was lethargic. Gave yolk, prebiotic, sugar water. Other chicks are chirping. After another round of sugar water... her abdomen isn't closed, so sad.
Of Our 13 chicken eggs in the incubator, 4 hatched. So sad.

That looks like an unabsorbed yolk. Did you have to assist it at hatching? If that's the problem, there is hope. Keep the baby warm and make sure s/he gets some chick-saver/electrolytes. If you haven't any designed for poultry, you can use Pedialyte, Gatorade or sugar water. Put some in a small eyedropper and lay it alongside the beak. The baby should swallow on its' own. Chicks are often sturdier than they look. Sometimes all they need is warmth and time.

So sad. Didn't assist with hatching.
Put back into incubator to keep other chicks away. She didn't make it.

Thanks. It's apart of it, I know that. But it does make the heart ache. ❤
Burying her felt better. Really tried to save her and had stayed up all night. Hard telling what else wasn't quite right.
Of all our hatches we had never had so many fail to pip, stop developing or with the tummy/ exposed yolk sac. One of the eggs that didn't hatch smelled bad. I believe it had bacteria somehow & contaminated the hatch. We had 3 fail to pip and 3 stop developing during lockdown. Out of 10 eggs that went into lockdown, we had 4 chicks, and lost one.
Worst batch for us ever. Beginner's type issues happen at every level, get one bad egg. Even the pros loose batches, that is a bit of assurance. Even when you do everything right, it can happen.
Keeps us humble.
