New chicken mom and member

Hi! :frow Welcome to BYC! Beautiful flock! Thanks for sharing the pictures! If it were me, and this were my first flock, I'd rehome the cockerel. In fact, that is what I did with my first one, but not until after one of my pullets was wounded. The other option is to separate him until he is older and not so hormonal. Your cockerel is going through that hormonal teenager stage, but it's very possible he will turn into a very nice rooster when he is older.

Thanks to everyone’s “hello’s”. And yes our cute little silkie is a COCKeral haha. We stopped trying to pet him so the biting stopped, unless you’re going into the coop then he runs at your heels and bites. Pearl has been slapped, kicked at or raked several times. But still keeps coming. Maybe because we still call him Pearl? Or sing Dude looks like a lady to him? Either way he’s an ass ...but really watches the hens. Picks up food and takes it to them, won’t eat while th ey are eating and yesterday was sounding a really loud alarm BAAAKKK!!! When a hawk was sitting on the fence. Everyone took evasive actions and he was standing his ground. Doesn’t seem worth dying over but I don’t judge. Oh and a side note teenage silkie roosters are THE. WORST. ALARM. CLOCKS. EVER!
