New Chicks & Broody Hen, Help Due tomorrow!! !!

haha thats what im worried about im a freshman in hs and what if they hatch during a school day i was thinking about taking them and keeping it in my locker and put a hot water bottel in the cooler think thats a good idea:)

Im a freshman in high school too!! well today, i came home to quite a mess. I walked in the gate, one egg shell was being eaten by the other chickens. I thought okay, Hazy must have pushed the egg shell away. But there was no chick around, it may not have been fertile, then again it may have. But i didnt find ANY trace of blood strewn out where the shells were. Still waintin for the others though, I have her closed up in her own little coop now.

I'm glad you decided to leave her with the chicks. She will do fine. My hen is quite friendly and I take her treats she takes them, calls her chicks, they come running, so they know now I am the treat giver and not a threat. My girl raised her chicks in our coop with 2 LF and 1 bantam rooster and 8 -10 week old chicks. The rooster is the one who let everyone know the chicks were off limits. After that no one bothers them. Good Luck Michele

Once I saw our Serama Mama squaring off with the bantam Cochin three times her size (chest-bump! Now you know who's boss!!!!), I realize she'd be just fine with her babies in the coop. And, sure enough, she is

One of the chicks hatched last night!! I got it up in the brooder after I got home from school. No harm was done to it:) There are still four other eggs waiting. One of them, I could hear it, is chirping. Does anyone know how long it will take after I heard this chirp? also, i candled it,and something, i believe its beak, was just bumping against the shell. is this a sign its about to hatch?? Thankyou guys SO much for your wonderful help!!

Also, do you know what kind Hazy is(the mama) and what kind of chick it is?? Father is an Old English Game.

Hazy: little dark brown hen. Light brown on chest, and golden & black feathers around neck. Tail feathers black. Body is dark brown.
Chick: Black with pale cream head/ tan feet

You shouldn't handle the eggs from day 18 until hatching is done.
