Definitely depends on what you want out of your birds, your location, you're personal needs, etc. If you make a list (even a short list) it might help folks give you some recommendations.
A good egg layer would be a white leghorn. An interesting breed would be a polish or silkie. I have naked necks, barred rocks, a rhode island red, and an Easter Egger. Those lay green, blue, pink, or yellow eggs. You should chose the breed for you. Good luck!
