I bought two 7 week old silkies from a farmers market yesterday sadly one died today for no aparent reason

the other chick thats left seems scared and lonely and goes mad if i leave her alone she only seems to settle if shes cuddled up on me ( shes on my shoulder cuddled into my neck atm) but i cant be with her constantly and i dont want to leave her if she going to be distressed any ideas?

I'm new to chicks but I've read multiple posts that says they don't do well alone--they are social animals and need other chickens to live with. I would get another if I were you

Hmmm. 1 chicken + 1 more chicken=sad chickens. 1 chicken + 9 more chickens= almost happy chickens. 1 chicken + 14 more chickens= happy chickens. So altogether it would take 18 chickens to make a happy flock (add all chickens together)......might as welll get 2 more to make 20?

i have two other chickens but they are alot bigger and im scared if i introduce them when the chick is still little they might attack her.... i will go and buy another chick tomorrow but what shall i do for tonight? iv brought her cage inside so shes not cold on her own outside but she crys out when i put her in what about a hot water bottle for her to cuddle up to? i wish i could take her and cwtch in bed with me shes so cute

but that wouldnt be right.

also the chick seems to be rubbing its beak on me and pecking me is this normal? if so why is she doing it? and i would love to have a big flock but the part of my garden iv sectioned for my chickens could hold no more than 6 as i like them to have alot of room for themselves

Well, you can always try to introduce them.
If they don't get along, just scoop up the baby!
Chickens are usually alright with babies of their own kind. Just be sure your Silkie doesn't have any open sores that the adults might pick at.

sorry what i should of said is leave her overnight i introduced them earlia but my marans seemed to be scared and kept running away
