New Chicks

Next week, Tractor Supply Co. is receiving their shipments of chicks at their store, and my sister and I were going to go and pick some out (haha I got her involved in chickens now). So, we were thinking of keeping them in a large cardboard box with all the necessary items to raise chicks. Would that work? And we would like to get a few Barred Plymouth Rock hens, a rooster, and a Silkie hen. Will they all get along?

The box should be fine, just make sure u have enough bedding or atleast a layer of something to keep the box dry...dont want it to soak through.

As far as the chicks go, i currently have 3 barrd rocks, 3 black australorps, 2 EE's, and 2 silkies all in a brooder together and they are happy as can be. Silkies arent quite as playful as the rest but there is no issues between the chicks themselves.
