New duckling! Help?

Also it keeps eating the woodchips we have down in the cage for it. Should we be concerned?

If it's eating a whole bunch of it I'd think about taking it out. . don't think a little bit would hurt.
I agree with what cntry boy said. It might be best for the night to just put it in the brooder and turn off the light. It is probably feeling very over stimulated from all the change. If you can though I'd put in the deeper water dish for it and see what it's like in the morning. When it calms down I bet it will get back to duck business like eating and drinking and blowing it's little ducky nose

@shawluvsbirds she's eaten a few pieces. The only other thing we'd be able to put in there is hay. Would that be better?

About the pine chips... Observe and see if it's actually eating them. They normally root in them quite a bit, but don't really actually eat/swallow them.

I wouldn't want to use hay myself. Too many allergens. @WVduckchick what do you think? Am I giving the right advice?

Hello....A mirror and a teddy helps with being lonely...I use margarine containers old dog dish something it can really dip their heads into to keep nares clear....Congrats....What a sweet little thing.....I love Ducks......

I wouldn't worry about it unless it is just going to town eating it like candy.

I use pine shavings and have never had an issue...As long as feed is available and water they just noodle around in the shavings...

Yah it has food and water in there. Managed to get it to eat some out of my hand lol and it's drinking water now... also is it normal to see the veins in their feet? Both my other ducks had dark feet when they were babies so I never saw veins.


And as for names I have absolutely NO idea. I was thinking maybe Pumpkin... Sunny was brought up as well. Anyone have some suggestions?
