New Fabrics Today! Pics ~Hand Quilting Complete!! New Pics! ~

Thanks, Caroline! BTW, I love the name Caroline. My Buff Brahma hen is Caroline. I'm back from Walmart and found that exact same blue again! Yippee! Unfortunately, they didn't have the same deep orangey gold blender fabric, but they did have another one, a print that is pretty dark close to the same shade. Maybe I'll use that after the last pieced border, then the blue to wrap it up. Then, I have to make a decision what designs I'm going to use in the quilting of it. I have about two months to quilt it. Any suggestions? I haven't done a bed quilt in awhile and I'm never sure what designs. I usually do outline quilting, but I'd like to do more than that on this one.

Speckled, your work is so beautiful!!

Thank you, JAPJRGIRL21! Welcome to BYC!

ETA: Should be finished with the top today sometime, then have to see if I have enough backing fabric for it somewhere. I do have batting-found a queen size batting at a yard sale for $1 recently. Glad I picked it up!

Top is complete! Now, I need to tackle the chore of choosing and/or piecing backing fabric. I have one large piece that is 108" wide, made just for backing quilts, but it doesn't match the front at all. I don't want to buy more of it at $11-15/yd, depending on where you get it, but I may have to, if this doesn't work. I don't have enough of any fabric in my stash to do the backing, I don't believe. Usually, I just back it with whatever I have enough of, but I rarely buy multiple yards of fabric of any one pattern.

Here it is. I will use that same blue that is in the border for the binding. Decided to forgo the last blue border and just bind in blue.

Thank you, Sally and featherbaby. Now, the hard part, the quilting of it. May take till December, but other than finishing Cetawin's tablecloth, I won't be taking on any other projects till this one is complete and in her new owner's hands.

Beautimus! I want!

Will you machine quilt it? I've never done machine, only hand, but these hands are getting more and more arthritic, so I think I will be learning the machine method. I was thinking circular - unexpected - but perhaps stitch in or by ditch would show off the geometrics. Cynthia, you mentioned you loved my name - I'm named for my great-grandmother. My grandmother's name is my middle one. I'm sooooo glad my mother placed them in the proper order! She had me named when she was 16 and had to wait through four boys to use a girl's name!
