New Hampshire Red thread!!!!!!!!!

Pics
I am on a Netbook. Same as a computer but smaller and actually it would be a mini laptop. I need to post some pictures of my reds. They are really pretty. My chickens could free range too if they would quit eating my tomatoes. They don't have a chance to get red. I decided to just let them out under supervision but get tired of babysitting. I sure miss my Highstepper. I don't know if you got my message but he turned out to be a cockerel instead of a pullet so he went to my daughters. At least I know my grandkids will take good care of him. Can you give me that link that you gave me again so I can copy it. I should have done it when I had it. Sorry to be a pest. I'll try to get some more pics on.

Okay, then you should have the full site (not just the mobile site, which has fewer options, and a lot of them are a bit harder to get to). Check down at the bottom of the page and see if you're on the "Desktop" site or the "Mobile" site; if you're on the Mobile site, then you might have a hard time posting pictures (or only see 4 boxes). If you're on the Desktop site, then you should have several boxes at the top of the dialogue box where you type what you want to post.
I'll be looking forward to seeing pics of your Reds!!! =)

As for your chickens eating your tomatoes, you could put tomato cages around then (then the chickens would only be able to get to the lowest of the tomatoes, but most of the plant should be out of their reach eventually). Or you could enclose your tomato plants with chicken wire (hex hardware cloth). Hardware cloth is great for keeping chickens in or out of where you want them (although it's not that great at keeping anything else away from your chickens, so it shouldn't be relied upon for runs/pens.
Then you wouldn't have to baby-sit. ;-)

I hope your daughter and grandkids enjoy Highstepper.

You aren't a pest; I'm happy to help. =)
If you want to find the page yourself, you can click on the brown box at the top right that says "My Profile", then scroll down and you'll see the threads you've posted on and your article (it has a puzzle piece near the title). Please don't hesitate to ask for help; like I said, I had to be taught and I enjoy passing on the information I'm given. =)

I found it. I just had to use my head.

Oh, good! I'm very happy for you!!!

I actually have a pic of my Reds on my computer (mostly my pics are on my phone, so I end up not posting them all b/c I'm not patient enough to bluetooth them to my computer. How lazy!)
Anyway, here's the pic:

They're so little and cute!!!
They actually look older now; this was taken at three days old and now they're a week and a half. I'll have to get on my phone and post some more. =)

I was on the mobile site, so I changed it. You have a lot of chickens and chicks! You must have lots of ground. I live in the city and have a quarter of an acre. I have a huge garden and should have put the tomatoes in cages but didn't. I probably have 30 plants. Next year I will def. cage them. I took lots of pictures today of all my chickens so I'll post some of those. I just need to put them on my computer and label my picture library so I can find them easily. I have 11 chickens now but don't tell, lol I did not get a permit for that many but I'm going to renew it in Dec. so maybe I'll be safe until then. My youngest daughter says I'm possessed. She posted a picture of a woman surrounded by chickens on facebook and directed it towards me. It said I hear voices telling me " I need more chickens". I would love to have more. Actually I have a pretty good group right now and they get along pretty well, sometimes. lol Much better since I got rid of the demon seed. hahaha The people that bought them called me today and asked me about selling some more. I would like to see the eggs that my reds will produce before I think about selling maybe two of them. I probably won't sell them though. Well I'll get busy tomorrow and try to post some more pics. Thanks for the help. Your chicks are real cute. I got mine when they were 4 weeks old along with my Welsummer, same age. ttyl

Well, I hope this came out right. I did the pictures first before the reply. These are a few of my girls and the last picture I put in accidently but she is definitely my favorite chick!

I'm glad we got that straightened out. I have a few acres, I think; I don't really keep track of that kind of thing, that's DH's dept.
Having a huge garden will be good with the chickens. They can dig up the soil for you and eat the bugs. Getting cages on the tomatoes would help, but it's not required.
You're not possessed; you're a chicken person. The voice is proof of that. ;)
I have 31 (I think). 11 is good for a quarter of an acre.
I would want to wait for eggs too, at least from one.
That's for posting the pics. Your girls are beautiful!!!

And the little girl is super cute! I especially like the red hair.

Thanks; this is the first time I've ordered day-old chicks. I've bought chicks from TSC, but this was my first time receiving them through the Post Office. I was nervous.

I'm thinking about getting some pullets that age. How did you receive yours?

We were so busy here today that I didn't even get to pay much attention to the girls. I did make them a bigger dust bath area. I worked on lots of yard projects. I'm having my girls and their families over tomorrow for dinner. Going to smoke some ribs and chicken. I have a nice smoker that was my dad's and I have never smoked on it. I grill on it a lot. I am to impatient to wait for eggs so I watch Craig's list and when they have chickens on their I buy some. I got those New hamps when they were 4 weeks old as I said and they were the best bargain ever. The lady charged me 2 dollars for them and I only had a ten so I said throw in another 2 dollar chick. Isn't that funny. The 5th was Welsummer and up until a couple of weeks ago I had been told it was a speckled Sussex. I kept looking at the internet and finally called her back and said, she doesn't look anything like a spec. suss. She said she made a mistake and showed me the pic of a Welsummer online and it looks just like mine. Same with the others, all Craigs list. I got my last 3 at 4 months, the black one and the Buff and the Barred rock were 5 months. So far the only one laying eggs is Roxanne my barred rock and she has laid my one every day for 7 days. I wonder how long she will keep that up. I'm getting impatient for the New Hamps to get busy. They are 5 and 2 weeks old tomorrow. It was real nice of you to tell me what I had to put pics on. I asked several times and no one else would take the time to help. So thanks again. I think I have gotten some good bargain chickens. Chickens online go anywhere from 10 and that's the cheapest I've seen to 25 dollars. I was surprised when I got my buff and barred and they were 8 dollars apiece. The best of all though were the 2 dollar birds, and they are nice birds. Sorry to talk so much. Take care. I was only kidding about not telling on me for having to many chickens.
