Oh thank you all for your answers, you have all helped greatly!!!! No one is huddling...they sleep together of course, but they spread out and sleep in groups, no loud peeping, no signs of distress at all...I have one that will peep until I say something and then all is fine..I think he/she just needs to know I am here! Last night I had them all asleep, then was told to turn the light back on..sigh, everyone thought oh great, play time, yippiiee...

I have the light off now and they are near the window, closed and the door with lots of natural sunshine and there is less fighting too, well argueing...I will watch and see tonight how they do with the light off and try this again!

Thank you all sooo very much

My chicks that were born 6/4 ask for the lamp behind me on when I'm watching tv at night! It's so funny, when I shut the tv off and then my lamp I'll find them cuddled up on top of each other sound asleep! It's like they want a light on for supper and once their bellies are filled they don't care. lol

Oh that's so cute! Mine were resting nicely, it's 87 degrees in my cabin right now. I had to go out and pick some more slugs...having a slug invasion and they are eating my plants, so I woke them up going out the door. It's getting darker now and everyone has had a good supper just now and settling down nicely so far. Although it's not completely dark yet, their box is getting that way fast.

So far no one is upset, all are spread out around the brooder and pretty quite and seem happy enough...another 45 minutes will tell all, as it will be pitch black...no lights but the computer on. I think this is going to be ok!!! Prayers said and fingers crossed

Yes! It's working!!! I had one that started a quiet but steady peeping, so went out and turned the table lamp on just long enough so she could see me then off again. I clucked to her and shushed her quietly and the other chicks seemed to help her settle too...it's 9:08 pm and the babies are all asleep!!!

I had moved to my bedroom when she started peeping, so took the computer with...that was the last of the light...she just needed a little reassurance from Mum!

Thanks again everyone, you have made us a very happy quiet sleeping family...and now, I am going to try to get some sleep for the first time in a few weeks!!!!

Nite and thanks again!!!

They did it!!! They slept all night!!! The outside birds are singing, and so are my little ones. I had to get up at 4:00 am for a pit stop, and everyone was ready to get up. The light was just barely peaking over the mountain's, so I did turn the table lamp on while they ate and drank then back off for them to realize the natural light. Will try to wait the extra 20 minutes tomorrow morning!! Being up so high here, we get the light really early! I am sooo proud of my ladies and lads...oh and even my smallest one was eating with everyone too. One thing I did realize, I need a bigger feeder for morning mass feedings. I have the 14 holes on each side and that is no longer enough. My flock needs a new feeder so will be getting one today! Thanks for all your help and a wonderful nights sleep for all of us!!!

Thanks! I have 15 BR's and I am pretty sure two are cockerels, might have one more, but he/she is an, I don't know, right now. As they are growing and especially with the natural light, I can no longer tell the two cockerels! LOL

We have been working on the coop some more this week-end. Wasn't sure, since it is a holiday week-end, but the guys showed up and the coop should be done tomorrow! I am painting the inside for easier cleaning, so will be a bit before they can go live in their new home, but hopefully this week! Once I can no longer smell the paint I will move them out to it. I finally found a red heat lamp, just incase the coop is too cool for them...we will see! I hope to get more socializing in with them once they are in there too as I can fit sitting down, unlike the brooder

They really don't like it when you reach down for them, aye?

Well, everyone is asleep and it is dark out, so this is a great thing!!! Will be glad to turn the fan on though, when they are in their new house
