New hen standing in crate with eyes closed...help...

It's hard to say, but the shipping could have had something to do with her illness. Dehydration from shipping can lead to impaction in the GI tract, and since she may have been hungry she could have overeaten the food or grass or drank too much at first, complicating matters. I'm glad to hear she is better and is eating. The Corid may be good to use still since changing soils will expose them to new strains of cocci (there are at least 9,) and won't hurt her to give. Or you can watch her, and treat if you see her getting sick again. It just seemed to me that she hadn't been on your soil long enough to get cocci when she first became sick.

I hope she is better and that her poop returns to a normal color. While that green might be from eating lots of grass it could also be a sign that something is still wrong. If I were you I would buy a kitchen or postal scale and start weighing her at the same time every day. Any weight loss could mean that she is still sick.

Chickens has very fast metabolisms, so I would expect green from grass to last no longer than 24 hours from when she ate it. This is based on what I have observed when mine eat cat food and the color changes I see when they do.

Question- do I still give her 2tsp per gallon of the corid in her water or would it be less now since its no longer a severe case?
Also how long do I give it to her for?
Thanks!
That's great news! :thumbsup
