Oh dang I really liked the name "Goose" it just stuck, how many horses have the name "Goose"

I think Grey Goose is a vodka; Spruce Goose is/was an airplane. I used to know a mare named Goose. She was a beautiful big grey thoroughbred who did well on the track but developed arthritis in her hock. I wish I could remember her racing name..... Ah ha, I think she raced as Grey Mirage! That's true about the vodka and the airplane but this Gray Goose was named after a Grumman airplane I think, maybe a land sea plane. Any way Goose is a great name
And I think it's great you rescued this horse. Many nice horses end up in bad situations. Does anyone remember this:
Ferdinand (19832002) was a Thoroughbred racehorse racehorse who won the 1986 Kentucky Derby and 1987 Breeders' Cup Classic. He was voted the 1987 Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year.
He entered stud in 1989 and was later sold to a breeding farm in Japan in 1994.
Much to the outrage of many horse racing enthusiasts, reports indicate that in 2002 Ferdinand was sent to slaughter in Japan with no fanfare or notice to previous owners. He likely became either pet food or steaks for human consumption.[1] Ferdinand's death was the catalyst for the Ferdinand Fee, an optional donation program to fund keeping old racehorses alive.

We bought our daughter a horse at an auction and there were so many that the killers were getting. But there was a little sway back Appy gelding that we didn't realize was sway until we bid and won and THEN the saddle was taken off and the sway was esposed. We went to plead our case that the saddle didn't some off until after the auctioneer yelled sold. The killers were all huddled around and said they'd buy him back from us I said Umm no not happening. So we came home with two new babies that night. We've not been back to another one. It was just too heartbreaking for me to witness.
But a huge YAY!!!!! for you!
