New Infraction / Warning System - Points for rule violations

We changed this rule to be more "broad" because we found that the "spirit of the law" was not specific to any one organization, but related to people that would come here and discuss a topic (animal rights organizations) that would always cause fights.

Like many of our rules it is hard to say, "Yes, every time we will moderate like this" because there are way too many variables. In almost all cases, if it is obvious your intentions are not to break the rules, you may only get a "warning" without any points associated. On the other hand, if someone got a warning and kept doing it, they may get a more severe warning with points.

I wish I could answer more specifically, but it is impossible without a very specific example. If you have more examples or questions about a specific organization or link, please PM me or a moderator and we'll be happy to help shed as much light as possible.

Good Idea, there some on here that really need to leave.....constantly putting up new topics on random ramblings. yeah, if I want to really know, I can read the news people!

Yes, all the points have an expiration (as stated in the announcement).

Hard to answer, but our goal is not to ban people or make the forum hard to use. In most cases it will be very obvious when a rule is or isn't being violated.

I am going to go practice behaving. We are going to get points for hijacking Nifty's thread (very nice thread at that

) if we keep it up.

You are so in trouble---nice talkin' to you---see you next summer.....going to miss you.....LOL

Wow.

Very organized, however all point values and punishment values could be divided by ten... (even for 3.5 points...) or they could be multiplied by 10... but that would get more confusing.

Also the bumping one, I know I seen post bumped not by the OP hoping to help get the OP an answer:

Example:
----------------
FireTigeris: Oh no my phoenix was hatched without any feathers, they are supposed to have fire feathers what do I do!!!

Almost Helpful: I'm not sure so here's a bump. (2 minutes later)

Expert: Oh, glad I saw this, the common phoenix - 'phoenix mythica' is born with feathers, the rare 'phoenix fantacy' is born like a baby dove, nakid and helpless- you need to mix one part dragon blood and two parts KMR to feed, every two hours .05 CCs ...
------------------

Would 'Almost Helpful' be in trouble for bumping or is it only self-bumping? (which is what I assumed when reading the rules)

Good point Fire, that happens alot in Emergencies. I think that it gives the OP dome false hope in seeing a post and thinking it's an answer to their problem. And then, people would see that one post and assume that the OP's question was already answered in that post. SO then, the real help might pass that thread up, assuming it was already answered.

Nifty, I still have a question about bumping. I bump others threads, particularly newbies, try and get their questions answered when I myself don't have an answer for them. Is that still bumping? I don't knowingly bump my own threads.

Is there some other way to get their threads back to the top, without bumping?

Otherwise I think it's a good plan. I do hope that it will be applied equally to all members.
