Right, this is mostly to protect people, especially younger members. Generally, posting too much public info (name, age, address, phone number, etc.) is a very bad idea on a super public website. Once it is posted, it is almost impossible to remove it from the internet, search engines, etc. In the case of a chickenstock, posting the address to the event is up to the poster, but if it is your home, I'd suggest you send that to the participants via PM.

I totally get what you are saying, but being able to control yourself is what separates us from the other animals.

Replying "in kind" is never appropriate and will always get the poster in trouble.

Important: Keep in mind that while the default point count for trolling, flaming, etc. might be 35 points, if our staff feel somoene is violating the rule in a way that goes above and beyond the standard point count, the staff may give a "custom warning" with way more points (which could be enough for a 2 week + ban).

So, long story short: Keep the fighting, trolling, flaming, etc. off the public forum.

I saw, on some thread and I can't remember where, a beautiful response to some one being jibbed and jabbed. It related to chicken behaviors and if it happened or never happened. After another volley towards the "good responder" from the offender, His/Her response was a simple "I'm happy for you". I thought it was so classy and all but the offender knew the offensive offender had been put in their place since the offender still came back at her. Duh!

We'll never do anything like that. Our goal isn't to parade someone's mistakes (intentional or not). We want everyone to be here, happy, and enjoying our great community without feeling embarrassed or have hurt feelings. This system was designed specifically to be private so the member would know when they are breaking a rule and can adjust behavior accordingly.

Again, this system wasn't designed to "punish" people, but to help them learn about the tone we strive to cultivate.

Anyway... The comment about Hogwarts made me laugh. I think that this new system will work very well.

I think if you have a negative point system, you should also have a positive point reward system. If you don't want it to be about negativity you need to give members something to look forward to and of course that can show by the members user name. I don't think anyone would object to that. Might help the younger members the most.

yes, and the ones that just completely disappear. or the ones that say after they win "cancel my bid", or "now is not a good time".
we cant leave negative feedback on them, because they will retaliate... they dont really care about their own feedback, but are quite happy to ruin ours.

this is a good point. although Im not interested in collecting reward points. But as a long time member who promotes and supports BYC when ever possible, Id just like the extra support when i do have an issue.
