i know that, But like i said, this is Supossed to be a FRIENDLY Site, We Should not have to Have this!!

I agree that we shouldn't HAVE to have this. But it's an unfortunate reality that the sense of anonimity that the internet gives people, makes some people a bit.... sharp with the tongue.

I have been a victim of this myself (unfortunately I reinforce the 'passionate redhed' stereotype

). I am SOOOOOO happy that we have such dedicated and positive moderators on this forum. I've never seen such an alert and wonderful set of mods with such a good sense of humor. Truely they are rare gems!

In fact, I'm so happy that they are so dedicated that if I did accidentally shoot my mouth off, and they did award me negative points, I would take the points and apologize to them. I've never seen them lock a thread when it wasn't richly deserved, they obviously really consider everyone's feelings. They're all so super nice that if I manage to get points out of them, I've super earned it

Thank you guys for all that you do! You've made these forums into the best community I've ever seen on the internet. And I spend an unhealthy amount of time online!

I wholeheartedly agree with your comment about the moderators. I confess I got a warning my first few weeks as a member, for something that didn't even occur to me at the time someone would consider "adult content". I chose the wrong analogy to make my point. I was SERIOUSLY hurt to get "slapped" on the wrist with the points, but I DID it, so I got the points. You better believe that I will try to express myself in a more "G-rated" manner. I did go through the emotions of "wait a minute, I've seen other posts that were worse than mine" "oh, come on, you hear worse on network TV" "what's adult content anymore?" But, the bottom line is; it was only a warning, so I will watch watch I type from now on and hope not to get anymore points.

Some of the topics we discuss on this forum are controversial and open for people to use it for their own agenda that has nothing to do with raising chickens. Hopefully this new point system will slow them down a little.

Thank you again, I love this site!

From the 1st post on page 1:

You can see your infraction points and warning history in your user profile (Profile, Essentials, User activity). Only you and forum staff can see your warnings

Could we have a thread somewhere with members listed that are temporarily exciled? I was missing somebody for a while and almost got worried. I could have looked at the "involuntary vacation" list...

Sorry, no.

I have a question regarding the point system. Hope you can help. I got a warning with 10 points and was notified by email about a week ago. The message said something about language, but I haven't a clue what on earth I said that caused offense since whatever it was happened in August sometime, let alone having it be something to last until sometime in November. Is there a way that someone can tell us what we've said that caused offense instead of being so general. I haven't meant to offend anyone and am wanting to avoid getting into trouble in the future. I guess what I'm saying is that simply sending us a message that says we've been smacked is not enough information to help.

Thanks.

Would a school-aged child be penalized for, say, giving the grade they were in? Would this be a violation of Rule No.9? If so, what about saying, for instance, "I started high school today?"

I'm sorry if this has been addressed, I don't feel like reading 30 pages to find out... Why is bumping a thread a violation? I see it (and have done it) a few times.

Yes. Any post that give away a minor's age will be moderated. We take minor internet safety seriously and will do our best to protect them as far as we are able.

We also have caring adults here who alert us to posts that are unsafe like that so we can take action to protect that underage member.

You can always say "I started a new school today"
