I'm dying to know what my two new baby chicks are going to be- boy or girl. The suspense, and fear that they are roo's, is making me nuts. I've never been good at waiting so I brought them into my Vet Hospital. After viewing lots of photos on line, looking in text books, and another doctor looking at the vent openings, the verdict is in...................

We have absolutely no idea what sex they are. We think one may be a girl. They are the cutest things ever and now that they're in the stage of losing some fluff and getting a few feathers they're even cuter. Especially the polish with it's fuzzy head.

They're about 3 weeks old now. I never had babies so young before, when do they start showing tell tale signs of sex?

Post some pics lets have a look-see. You should have a better clue around six, seven weeks and probably longer for The polish. I'm in the same boat, I'm not 100% my two leghorns are girls either, but there where others that you could tell we're definite Roos.

Here is my little exchequer leghorns I got from Sunnychooks last week. They are 4+ weeks now.
No names yet still

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I think we got it right, but keep thinking "girls"!

It's been a while since I logged on. It's great to see so many new BYC members! WELCOME ALL!!!

I have almost a full bag of grower/finisher that I don't need - my girls turned 18 weeks this weekend so I switched to layer. I don't want to throw it out - can anyone near Pemberton Borough or in Burlington County use it? I'll drop it off if you aren't too far. Let me know!
