Hey where did everybody go? What are you all doing chicken wise? Any new egg layers? I have two now and three getting ready. Also added five new birds.

Five new birds! What did you get? I think my five month old BO is getting ready to lay. She's been looking around a lot and in and out of areas and corners of the yard. I can't wait!!!!

I'm really worried about the sex of my two newest chicks. I have to post some pictures on the what sex am i thread. They are 8 weeks old and I just can't tell. Every time I think I'm sure one way or the other, they develop a new characteristic.

Today I noticed tiny spur bumps on the back of my RIR so I'm not sure because my BO who is definitely a girl has them too. Some days her cheeks and comb look red tinged and some days they don't.

I have no ides about my Polish yet.
 
My run was finished the other day. We do let them range through the garden when we are home. I am starting to get skeptical about my Silkie. I am praying she is still a pullet. I already have one cockerel and I would hate to choose bewteen my two favorite birds!
NJchicx- how are the chicks? When did you pick them up?

The new girls are doing good. They are pretty. This is what I got. Blue Wheaton Ameracuana (sandy), white Ameracuana (pearl), black copper Marans (ruby), blue olive egger (olive) and a black and white EE (Lilly - this was supposed to b my second black copper Marans but it didn't work out). They are in with Lucy an Ethel (exchequer leghorns) and they will be separate for about another five weeks or so till the sizes are closer. They all range between 8-12 weeks.

You guys should post some pics so we can see about the sexes.

Oh and I picked them up today. Left early and home by about 12:30. Hit Benny traffic on the way home, ugh.

I won't go by those spur bumps. Post some pics if u can. Is she squatting yet? My barred Rick is laying a jumbo double yolker every 4-5 days and not even skipping the day after. :D
 
Wow, I've never heard of more than half of these breeds! They sound awesome.

I've taken a bunch of pictures. I sent them to my work computer at the hospital which is much easier to use to post on the forum than my tablet for some reason. Look for them Tuesday!
