Llandy is picking up her new babies from me tomorrow. I'm so excited for her. And my girls gave me 9 eggs today. I couldn't believe it. And I found two leghorn eggs in the dog house from two days ago. The wind blew the run door shut and they couldn't get in to lay their eggs. A few girls were outside creating a ruckus because they couldn't get it. The leghorns, Lucy & Ethel, where MIA so I suspected they went to find a spot. They spent today locked up so they would use the nesting box. The two eggs where frozen solid and cracked. I can't wait for it to warm up, ugh.

I understand but did ur town say u can't have them? And if they did rehoming them is better than ASPCA taking them away if another child took them they would be clOse in ocean county and u could visit them and c the at the oc fair!

I'm so sorry your going through this. I can only suggest you reach out to those who are offering their help, and follow their advice on how to go about appealing to your town. The backyard chicken movement is spreading, so I'm sure you can gain support from others in your town.

It's understandable that you love your birds. However, if the law says you can't have them, you only have two options:
1. Try to hide them until the law finds you, but then your chickens will be given to random strangers when they are found
2. Give them away now and know they are getting a loving home. (Like ZachNHoudan said). I am in his 4-H club and there some very nice kids who would take good care of your birds

However, are you sure they are illegal? Chickens are NOT livestock. You should really talk to your local zoning director before stressing yourself out. Trust me, there are many twists and turns to the law that you do not know about. Another point to consider is, you said you had your birds for a year? If you already had them, and the law is new, they cannot make you get rid of your birds (most of the time).

And you could work on getting zoning approval without breaking the law and possibly be able to make arrangements to get them back. It's may be possible.
