I DONT WANT TOO I DID NOT RAISE THEN WITH LOVE AND CARE SO SOME DUMD NEW NIEGBORS DECIDES TO MAKE ME BREAK OUT IN TEARS

i'm so sorry you're going thru this! We used to have a pitbull that was a total couch potato and as soon as one of our neighbors found out we owned one, they wanted to start a petition to make us get rid of him. I understand the stress and anger you're feeling.

What kind of chickens do you have?

Like he said, anyone can join, but depending on your age (3rd grade and under I believe), you will be considered a "prep". People up to 18 years old can join, but a few people will stay until 19.

Hi all,
I haven't posted in a while, but since my babies have grown and are now laying lots of yummy eggs. Yesterday I got 8 eggs from 8 hens. They are still laying quite nicely with all this freezing weather. They have no heat in coop, but they do have supplemental lighting. I gave them warm oats, buckwheat, rice and yogurt yesterday and they chowed it down like it was their last meal! I'm also doing the DLM and not sure if that is keeping them warm in coop, but they all seem to be doing well with no signs of frostbite yet. I do close all the windows at night and leave only upper ventilation open. I have 2 fat LB (who always have dirty butts), 2 BO's, 1RIR, 1CQ, 1EE, and 1 black mix (pretty tho). Love them and they always make me LOL!

(not todays eggs)

Good to see you back. Nice eggs and they must be happy with all those eggs.

It's understandable that you love your birds. However, if the law says you can't have them, you only have two options:
1. Try to hide them until the law finds you, but then your chickens will be given to random strangers when they are found
2. Give them away now and know they are getting a loving home. (Like ZachNHoudan said). I am in his 4-H club and there some very nice kids who would take good care of your birds

However, are you sure they are illegal? Chickens are NOT livestock. You should really talk to your local zoning director before stressing yourself out. Trust me, there are many twists and turns to the law that you do not know about. Another point to consider is, you said you had your birds for a year? If you already had them, and the law is new, they cannot make you get rid of your birds (most of the time).
Technically, livestock is defined as an animal raised or kept for profit, but you will find that many ordinances DO count poultry as livestock. Of course, by their own definitions, a "pet" chicken should not be considered livestock, but they rarely apply the definition in that sense. This is a big part of the issues surrounding the legalization of backyard chickens. It is a matter of semantics.

what type of bantams and r the pekins males are females? and the phesants and pigeon are not even poultry but u should have permits for the phesants
Most states require a permit for ringnecks, but not for ornamentals. Generally this is so that you can have them in your possession without a hunting license. NJ may require a permit for either, they don't list them on the required or exempted list, so you would have to call (http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/pdf/permregs.pdf). There can also be a variance by county/township ordinance as well that is even stricter. The hobby permit for gamebirds in NJ is $20 a year. Kind of like licensing your dog.
