Cute looking silkie!
I have been looking for chicken eggs to hatch again since my last hatch was a epic fail. I am in Bergen County and looking for eggs to hatch that are not too expensive. I thought I found another place with eggs but they cost the same amount and they only get eggs in on Tuesdays where as the farm is every day.
Anybody here in or close to Bergen County with Hatching Eggs for my incubator?
I really don't want to spend another $14.00 for 2 dozen.
Please PM me as I sometimes don't check the forum too often.

For a couple of dollars you can take your chances on "fertile" eggs from a grocery store. I know people who have done it. You will end up with leghorns or similar egg laying machines, but if it is just to hatch and you want to do it cheaply. Just don't expect much. You could probably also purchase eggs from anyone's roadside stand (if they have a rooster on premises) for the cost of eating eggs. Like I said in the pm, hatching eggs and fertile eating eggs are the same thing, unless, of course, they are breeder eggs and you are after something special that has been bred to a specific standard and the eggs are handled very carefully.I'll PM you as well, but for the sake of education on the thread, I should tell you that $14 for 2 dozen eggs is really pretty good. I've paid as much as $50 for 1 dozen from an good breeder.

A 50% hatch rate from shipped eggs is considered good, unfortunately, even if they are shipped overnight.
