Hey fellow NJ'ers! I joined about a month or two ago and just found this thread. I'm on the Brick/Pt. Pleas boarder in Midsreams. Just got my first chicks this past weekend. We're hooked!

Welcome! Ahhh point pleasent, love that weekend traffic. NOT. No better here in Jackson, I have great adventure just around the corner and this time of year is crazy. Well I'm glad you are enjoying your chickens. How many did you get? I got my chickens locally, including two barred rocks. They have a website jerseychickens.com. Did you look on Craigslist?

Also saw someone on central nj Craigslist selling barred rocks which hatched end of march.

My first set of chicks came from a guy in central nj craigslist! 4 lavender orpingtons, a lemon orpington (big sigh...turned out to be a roo... Anyone want a well spoiled beautiful roo?) and a white female that I think might be a leghorn.

Right now I have 8. Two barred rocks, BO, RSL, light brahma, 2 EE and a speckled Sussex whose sex I am still on the fence about. They are all 14 weeks with the exception of the two EE (when I rehomed my first cockerel EE these two came home with me, lol). And today my RSL squatted when I reached down to pet her

That's a big disappointment on the lemon cuckoo. Bet he's pretty. My EE was a beautiful blue. He crowed at 8 weeks. I don't know if I will keep my SS if it's a Roo. One neighbor already gave me their opinion on it Like the neighbors dog barking doesn't bother you!

He is pretty! If I could keep him I would... My neighbors son and his friends make way more noise lol! But it's not allowed in my town . My friend is going to take another roo - one of the lavender orpingtons...

It seems like my heart is just breaking having to do it...but I hope with time and knowing they're going to good homes will make it all better. I never thought I'd be such a wuss.

He is pretty. If I had more room and not so nosy neighbors I would offer to take him. The girls look nice too. Mine are not laying yet, hope by the end of June to get my first egg. How old & are yours laying yet? I would like to get a marans but I think my family will kill me, lol.

If my Faverolles wasn't a roo, I would take him. He is beautiful! What a shame.

Going to agway this AM to get some things and they just so happened to be expecting 75 chicks today. Black marans, wellsummers & speckled sussex. He he he he I'm bursting Control, I must use control.
