New Jersey

Anyone in Jersey (or Eastern PA) know of someone who has Seramas or Serama Eggs they are interested in selling? My son's frizzle rooster isn't working out (balding my girls and breaking wing feathers too much)...plus he's kind of a jerk (LOL). So, we are looking to find something else for him. He likes these tiny Seramas, so I have been researching them and think they would be a good fit for our flock. Thanks!

I know someone with Sebastopols! They are so cute! I wish I could get one. I am getting 3 more birds in June, from Carolyn (thanks for recommending her!):
Golden Sebright
Porcelain D'Uccle
Lemon Blue/Silver Blue Modern Game Bantam

Ooh you must be excited. Can't wait to see pics when you get them. The game bird sounds cool. So did your friend hatch them or get them as goslings. I don't have an incubator, although I may ask for one for my birthday in July :) I thought it would be nice eye candy and the kids would like it.

I don't know where he got them... He is on this site and has posted a few times on this thread. Maybe you could ask him? (ZachNhoudan) They are adorable! I am very excited to get my birds. How far away is Carolyn's home from here?

I don't remember exactly how long it took, but it was less than the GPS said. I also took the palisades parkway over the Hudson (close to bear mntn) and it was a beautiful ride. You can definitely make a nice day of it.

I hope so! We will be going in June sometime to get them. she is hatching them, but will be holding them for me until she can sex them. My mom will kill me if we get a rooster (well, a loud one. I don't think she would mind a quieter one...)

I know there are people selling Seramas at the Northeastern Poultry Congress next weekend in Springfield, Mass. It's not that far - probably four hours from you. You can see their offers here:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/731397/northeast-poultry-congress-2013/220

Mostly pairs and trios, though. It's a really good show - worth the drive. However, if you can't make arrangements for the birds to be held for you, I recommend getting there by around 8 am Saturday to get the best offerings. Seramas are pretty popular right now, having just been accepted into the Standard, so you won't find many good ones unspoken for in the sale area. There's a couple of cheap hotels in the area - we're staying at the Red Roof Inn.

In the future, you should get on the Serama thread, and plan to meet breeders at the shows around us. The closest ones are our own, in Sussex, in May and October, (although we don't get a lot of Seramas there,) Delmarva in March, and the York, PA show. (Don't know the date offhand.) You can see the dates for all of the shows within driving distance on www.poultryshowcentral.com.

This sounds great! My brother in law lives 1.5 hours south of Springfield Mass. Seems like a great excuse to visit next weekend! :)
