Thanks for the warm welcome. I got the human nursing figured out. Didn't know vet's had nurses. Thought they were all techs. Learn something every day.

people that are trained on the job tend to call themselves techs. People that go to school and pass their board exam which is the equivalent to an RN tend to call themselves nurses. Currently the accredited schools in NJ are Camden and Bergen which are both 2y and Rutgers which is 4y.

The actual veterinarians perform surgery too right? Or is that yet another branch? I want to do surgery and diagnose.

yup. GP's do all kinds of surgery. They do very extensive dental procedures too. There are specialized surgeons that focus on more critical, complicated procedures such as orthopedic, neuro, soft tissue, ect........

I told my husband it's a sort of therapy, lol. I don't know if he buys it. 
I got eggs from slackwater in MD.  I still have a GLW for you. Give me a name. 

I want her so bad! She's number one on my wish list. I don't see how i could take only one though because i really think they integrate better with a pair. That would put me at 7 and the hubby has put his foot down. He says going to almost twice our towns limit is a no go. He says someones gotta go for two more to come. Really???? He said 6 is the max. If i took your GLW which would put me at 6, i'd be so afraid of integrating her.

Well lets be positive is is a girl (I am pretty sure but they are only 3 wks). Take her and if it doesn't work ill take her back. Your flock is mellow and with the nice weather coming they will be out more so they will have room to mingle.

I started with a bunch of bantam Cochin chicks and a sizzle that I got from a farmer in nc last July. I got a polish an Easter egger (who is laying a brown egg) and a silkie at the fall Sussex show. Then in January I got bcm chicks from the show in Springfield MA. I ended up with a trio. So I'm. up to fourteen chickens. Four roos. I would like to rehome two of them. My daughter says I've. replaced them with chickens. The empty nest syndrome taken to another level.. I had three of my kids leave in six months time a year ago. Only one more left.

Thanks this is good to know as my daughter who always dreamed of being a large animal veterinarian decided to be a nurse instead due to the difficulty of getting into a school. She will love to hear she has this option.

Yeah I didn't want to break the bank. I used my secret Mom money (not really just what I stash away for things). I'm hoping the kids will be interested.  

Kahlua the chicks are doing well. One EE gives me the stink eye every time I look in there. It's very cute. One marans has feathered out quick, maybe girl, we will see. And the silkie is so small we named it Itty Bitty. 

Glad they are doing well
The EE's mother (Rue) is very sweet, she will occasionally fly up on my shoulder and just sit there.
The nice thing about Wheaten Marans is that you can sex them young, like at 3-4 weeks. Boys feather in with black on their breast.
