Would it be safe to turn the light off on my 6 week old girls tonight? I am worried it is to hot.

Are they in the house? If so yes. When mine are in the house they are off the light about four weeks. If they are in the garage or basement maybe just at night, but its raised higher. At six weeks they are feathered well and they will snuggle.

I thought they are fine after 4 weeks? I'm sure you're fine. I know mine were off the bulb after four weeks.
Thanks Guys, thats what I thought. They are in the laundry room and they are loosely cuddling ( if that makes sense).
YAY shadow rabbit10 your post was normal

Well, I screwed up not announcing the Chik Chat at Kirby's in Meford last week. I'll make up for it by announcing their Advanced Chicken Keeping Talk on Sunday, April 14, at 1pm. This talk is intended for people who already have chickens, as those who never had them will probably be confused by some of the subjects. Remember all the stuff you didm't know before you got chickens? Kirby's is one of the most fun feed stores in NJ, and probably the oldest. They've been in business for 135 years! Nicest people ever, with great supplies for your birds, and other animals, as well. Hope to see you there!

Well I had the babies out today. The younger group managed to squeeze out somehow. I found Mac watching them but they went through the fence and he didn't know how to tell me like lassie would. I put all 14 together now and in the shed out back. My basement seems too cold. They should be fine in there. Sold one of my splash Ameraucana cockerels today, I'm sure the girls are happy, lol. Spent severel hours outside today doing odds n ends around the yard. Finally enjoying the outside again.

I am 90% positive one of my Girls has Coccidiosis. She is all puffed up and there is bloody stool in the brooder. It just started this morning. I am going to go buy some corid and treat her. I am assuming that I should treat them all to be safe? I feel so terrible, I have been letting them go outside because it has been so nice. they have only been outside twice. I could cry!! Worst part is I wont be able to treat her until later this afternoon. Is there any hope in this situation if i get her treated today? Should I separate her?
