Please help me Identify these mystery chicks. chick 1

chick 2 5 toes on 1foot

chick 3

chick 4

chick 5

Ginny, where did you get them? The five-toed one does not look like any purebred that I'm familiar with yet - the ones I do know have pretty distinctive features, even at that age - they are all pretty young to be making definite identifications. BTW, "bantam" is a size, not a breed, although saying that does change the choices of breeds somewhat. I think you need to wait until they get a bit bigger. NJChixs, are you sure the sex link has all those colors as a chick? I've seen them at point-of-lay, and they are a pretty uniform color.

I can't click on the pic to make it bigger or my iPad will crash. I tried to pinch it bigger, and yes I see what you mean about those colors. Whatever it is it looks like it will be pretty when it gets older. They may all be just a barnyard mix that was hatched and put in the bin.

I just noticed that there is a thread just for NJ -- yay! I hope no one minds me butting in. :)

I'm in the central-to-northern part of the state on the eastern side, basically a place where there we barely have room for humans, let alone chickens! I'm looking for a place to buy fertilized eggs that isn't too far of a drive. Are there any other places or people to buy from other than Abma Farm and Goffle Road Farm in Wyckoff? Nothing against those places, I just would prefer somewhere a little closer to me.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome! There are some on here that live a bit closer that may have eggs. What county are you in? My hen to rooster ratio is too high so I don't think my eggs would help. Post where you are and how far your willing to drive and see if anyone can help you out. Also did you try Craigslist? Search hatching eggs and fertilized eggs. And stop by to chit chat some.

The eggs should be hatching the next two days. I have five external pips as of this AM. I did check them at 3AM so they pipped sometime after that. It's going to be a long day.

I'm on the border of Union and Middlesex counties, and close to Staten Island. I only did a quick search on Craigslist, but I'll search a bit more using those terms. Thanks!

Check again and even if the ads are old, but the location is good email them and ask they may be able to sell. I post on CL and sometimes it's a hassle to redo an ad so I just leave it up even though its old.
