I am having some sort of respiratory illness go thru the flock! It stinks because at first it was just the one little Serama guy...I got him cured with Tylan and did my best to keep him separated. Then 2 days ago I noticed that at least 2 of my bigger hens are sneezing and sounding congested! Buying stock in Tylan this year I guess! UGH!!

Go to TSC and get some VetRX. I had a chicken several years ago that came down with a respiratory issue and I was able to clear it right up. I used an eye dropper to give it to her orally, but the directions say you can also use it topically.
Good luck!

Any idea how to cut down on flies? I was told that deluted listerine works good on smells and so does apple cider vinegar My coop does meet the township set back from their property.

I'm so upset this morning. I'm devastated! My favorite chicken was taken by a Fox last night. It broke through the pen and and into the coop. It had 20 others to choose from and it took my little D'uccle rooster. I just can't believe it. He's the little guy in my avatar. That's him at about 5 months. I sure will miss him. : (

My condolences, I'm so sorry. Makes you want to declare war on predators. We have some intense fox pressure here in Morris County, and bears. It's looking more likely that I'll need to invest in some electric fencing to go with my Alcatraz coop. Best wishes.

Mark

I use those Fly Bags. Sure, they a probably one of the nastiest things you will ever smell, but they do work. Can't tell you how many flies I've caught with those things.
