Yeah, we have a contingent of resident hawks, eagles, and owls, but between November and March the number of them doubles. This one must have been huuuuge considering the claw marks left in the snow. Could have been an eagle or really early owl. The attack happened around 3 PM, so a bit on the early side for an owl, but we do have a number of great horned owls around. I didn't see the attack this time, but no prints in the snow going to or from the carcass and the large claw marks scratched around the remains only leaves aerial predator or alien on the list.
Now I am down to 2 faverolles. I might have to get some more of them this year, I just love their gentle natures and goofy personalities. Mary, do you still raise them? I have lost track of what you are concentrating on these days.
