I just purchased a small piece of property there in Jersey. Its in Cumberland County area and its Commercial Township. Mailing address is Millville by the lakes there. Does anyone know if chickens are allowed in this area I can't seem to find the codes for the area. I would love to use this property for a summer home and would love to bring my girls with me during that time.
The info will be under land use- agricultural use which is what most areas consider chickens requires different acreage. Just found out we need 5 acres in South Brunswick, but we are applying for a variance. Calling the Planning office is your best bet.Hello I would just call the town hall and ask them

I wish I had! I read the zoning ordinances and the only thing referring to chickens was about where to place the coop... it said nothing about it being an agricultural animal!!! Then again, I wouldn't have discovered the little critters!I just want to say thanks for the info. I will have to give the office a call Monday and ask a few questions.
Hello I am Robert Schuster I can answer any questions you may have about birds and what I have available. You may visit the farm and see all the animals and perhaps learn and get some new ideas.
Sincerely,
Robert Schuster

I agree. Robert actually judged my 4-H showmanship competition a few years ago (during my final 4-H year) and he was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable and took the time to teach and work with the kids. Him and one of his volunteers told us all about the farm and it's clear he has lots of experience. This might not be the place but this guy need some recognition. I just visited Schuster's Farm and what an AMAZING and well informed experience. Robert took the time to teach me about each breed of bird that was on his property. He also took the time to teach me how to hold, handle, care, and inspect for bug and illnesses. I went to the farm expecting to spending 10-15 mins but ended up hanging around (learning) for an hour and a half. I would recommend Schuster's Farm to anyone in Ocean County.
