New Jersey

This place in Andover is where I get my chickens. Not sure what they have ready at this time of year but they’ve had Cochins and bantams and so many other breeds. It’s been run by a husband and wife. Sadly the husband passed away last month and his wife and daughter are continuing his legacy. You might have to pick up your birds from her home in Andover.

Hello everyone! I've gotten so much good knowledge from this site over the years but now I have a big ask. I'm in south Jersey (Deptford) and I have a beautiful 9-year-old Rouen named Peeper who will need a home soon.

A neighbor found her abandoned outdoors as a baby, and asked if we could take her in - we said yes and raised her with our small flock of Pekins. Unfortunately, only one Pekin remains and she might not be with us much longer. Those two have always been inseparable and we know Peeper is going to grieve when she's gone. We've tried to see how Peeper would do indoors in case it would help her feel less lonely, but so far she's not a fan at all. And she's even sadder when she's all alone.

She's an active, healthy, and energetic lady who needs other ducks to hang out with. She doesn't lay eggs anymore. She's very routine-oriented so it's easy to get her to go in/out of nighttime shelters. She's not a picky eater and has no special dietary restrictions. She's a beauty whose feathers and feet are in immaculate condition. She's not cuddly but she has a very big silly personality.

We'd be willing to drive long distances to deliver her. We'd also be happy to bring her to our avian vet for a thorough checkup before she goes to her new home. We could send along all her remaining supplies like wood shavings, duck feed, duck ramp, collapsible pool, etc. If you provide the transport, you could also take her enclosed outdoor pen and plastic kiddie pool.

If you think this sweet lady would fit with your flock, please let me know! A flock with Pekins or other Rouens would be ideal, but we'd be willing to try anything. We just want her to be happy.

Thanks for reading and please reach out if you (or anybody you know) might be interested.

She is beautiful and I really hope you find somewhere who can give her a nice home. Unfortunately I don’t have any ducks so can’t raise my hand to help.
You probably thought of this already but it may be worth posting on the state threads for Pennsylvania and Delaware too.
Good luck. :fl

I actually didn't think of that!! It's a great idea - more eyes could never hurt! I'll be sure to add some there tomorrow. Thank you so much :hugs

Greetings, God bless everyone. I'm in Central NJ. I live in a residential area. Have a backyard not acreage. I will be raising 4 quail hens in a few weeks for personal use eggs, and renting probably 2 Rhode Island Red females for the same reason. We can't have males here so I won't be breeding or hatching eggs. I pray you all come running when I yell for help and bear with my in eggs patience and bird brained questions.

Good luck. Where did you rent the hens from?
