I found a friend of a friend in Maryland who was willing, but ended up keeping them in my school's garden/park. I had to build a run, but it worked out well -- I was able to see them and care for them, the kids liked them, and the garden manager got eggs. I also let them out for an hour or so daily to eat the bugs.

Wow, that’s reassuring! I will need to ask around more. My kids don’t want me to give up my girls and I don’t either.

Have you tried Red Valley Ranch? They're in Millstone Township. They get in some hard to find breeds; I just picked up some Silkie Bantams and Gold Laced Polish from them on Saturday. Look up Jersey Chickens, there is a site where they list what they usually carry.

Yes! That’s where i’m going to end up going to get my chicks when they are ready for pick up! Do they have a minimum you have to get?

I am not sure, though you should be fine as long as you are getting at least 3 chicks.

Well, to be fair, it is kind of late. The lady at Red Valley Ranch was just a little bit short with me when I called last week, because I accidently called after hours.
